Statement of Intent: CDANZ Constitution

E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā hau whā, tēnā koutou katoa CDANZ members.

CDANZ Constitution

The new Incorporated Societies Act 2022 has replaced the previous Incorporated Societies Act, 1908. An obligation under the new Act is for all incorporated societies to review and rewrite their constitution by October 2023. The new Act requires the constitutions of incorporated societies to contain far more detail than was required under the 1908 Act.

The National Executive Committee of CDANZ has commenced the process to review and then rewrite the constitution. This is a complex project which requires extensive work with stakeholders to consider sections of the constitution and whether they are still fit for purpose. CDANZ is committed to being tiriti honouring, by giving mana to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and being an effective treaty partner with tāngata whenua..

Next steps:

We are developing an engagement plan for this work. Initially we will send a survey to all members and we will also contact the branches for feedback on how members would like to participate. We look forward to CDANZ member involvement.
