The Professional Membership Category recognises those members who have completed a Level 8 or above qualification that meets CDANZ membership requirements. This is either a minimum of 60 credits at Level 8 or above in a career specific qualification or 60 credits at level 8 or above in a related field - (Alternative Pathway). Our Professional Membership aligns with international benchmarks.
If you were an existing member who completed the survey "Honouring the Intentions of existing members" then you have the option of upgrading your membership using the previous process and forms. Please email membership@cdanz.org.nz for any queries.
The best way to get to know CDANZ members is to attend professional development events and other CDANZ events in your area or online. These are open to guests and visitors, usually at a small charge.
If you are a career practitioner who has belonged to an association overseas and you are new to New Zealand, we will also accept a reference from a Professional member of your previous association.
We also accept references from CDAA members and from CATE members who have been members for at least 3 years and have known you in a professional capacity for at least 1 year.
It will take us 2-3 weeks to complete an evaluation of your Competency Statement and Practice Study. This evaluation is then considered alongside your application at the next meeting ot the Membership Committee. This Committee meets once a month so depending on when your application is made we would expect to get a decision to you within 6-10 weeks. An application submitted prior to the 20th on one month would generally have the evaluation completed in time be considered at the membership meeting in following month. eg An application received prior to 20 June would generally result in a decsion to you by 31 July.
Please note that if you submit an incomplete application, if we have not received references, or if there are queries on the information you have given us, this may delay your application.
You will receive email confirmation of your membership. Full and Professional members will also receive their Membership Certificate. All new members should receive contact from your local Branch Chairperson welcoming you to the Association and inviting you to future Branch meetings. Once your membership has been approved you can start promoting your association with CDANZ in accordance with the CDANZ Brand Use Guidelines
If you are a current Full, Professional or Fellow member you may put your membership on hold for a period of up to twelve months. A hold fee of $50.00+gst applies. You can reactivate your membership at any time during that twelve months. Being on hold for a year allow you to "skip" the provision of one PD record; either the one at the beginning or end of the hold period. ie if a PD return is provided at the start of the hold period then none is due a year later on resuming membership. Or if a PD return is not provided at the start of the hold then it is due at the end on resuming membership. Contact the administrator, info@cdanz.org.nz, to place membership on hold. The use of the hold period is intended to cover occasional situations and may be declined if requested frequently.
Full, Professional and Fellow members can re-join within three years and resume the type of membership that they held last without a full reapplication. An administration fee of $50+gst will be applied.
There are currently a number of career specific qualifications available in New Zealand. Read more...
